Tam Dao, 21 March 2014 - VNFOREST Youth Union and Tam Dao National Park Management Board co-hosted the Tree-planting Ceremony to celebrate International Day of Forests (21 March) and the 82th founding anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Youth Union.
In 2013, Viet Nam’s Forestry has attained many significant achievements in which timber and timber products export turnover reached a new record high.
From 29th-30th October, in Hanoi, the policy dialogue on forest management and timber and wildlife trade was hold by Viet Nam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Lao PDR’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. This policy dialogue is within the framework of EU FLEGT Asia Regional Support Programme for Viet Nam, which is currently in formal VPA/ FLEGT negotiations with the EU.
From 17th-19th September, 2013, in Ha Noi, the Workshop on Strengthening forestry communications in Asia and the Pacific was co-organized by FAO Regional Office in Asia and the Pacific and Viet Nam Administration of Forestry.
Ngày 18/4/2014 Bộ Nông nghiệp và Phát triển nông thôn tổ chức Hội thảo tham vấn quốc gia về Hiệp định VPA/ FLEGT nhằm lấy ý kiến các bên liên quan về nội dung của hiệp định VPA/ FLEGT và cơ chế thực hiện Hiệp định để đoàn đàm phán có cơ sở đàm phán cho các vòng tiếp theo. Đồng thời Hội thảo sẽ thảo luận về vai trò của các bên liên quan trong việc thực Hiệp định VPA sau khi được ký kết.
Hanoi, Feb 18th 2014 - Three European Union – newly funded projects, worth of 3 million EURO, were officially launched, aiming to support Vietnam and other neighbouring countries in combating illegal logging and to promote trade in legal timber and timber products as well as to improve sustainable use of forests in Vietnam.
Hanoi – On 21 January 2014, the annual plenary meeting of the Forest Sector Support Partnership (FSSP) was chaired by Dr. Ha Cong Tuan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and co-chaired by Dr. Juergen Hess, Director of the Natural Resources Management Programme of the German Development Cooperation in Viet Nam.
The FSSP Annual Plenary Meeting, regularly held at the beginning of each year, is considered as one of the most important forums of the Partnership with the aims of strengthening information sharing and policy dialogues between the Government of Viet Nam and local and international partners on sectoral performance in the past year and discussing forest sector development solutions in the future.
Ministry of Finance issued the Circular No. 126/2012/TT-BTC, dated 7 August, 2012, on the regulations on collecting rates, methods, submission, management and utilization of entrance fees in National Parks namely Bach Ma, Cuc Phuong, Ba Vi, Tam Dao, Yokdon and Cat Tien
Special use forest is a type of forest which is established according to the Law on Forest Protection and Development and has special values for nature conservation, standard sample of national forest ecosystem, forest biological gene sources; scientific research; protection of historical and cultural relics and landscapes; in service of recreation, tourism in combination with protection, contributing to environmental protection.
On 9 January 2012, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed the Decision No. 57/QD-TTg on the Forest Protection and Development Plan 2011 - 2020 and Decision No. 58/QD-TTg on the establishment of the National Steering Committee on Forest Protection and Development Plan 2011 - 2020.
RECOFTC is currently seeking three Intern: People, Forests and Climate Change; Intern – Securing Community Forestry and Intern – Transforming Forest Conflict
. The successful applicant will be based at RECOFTC headquarters, Bangkok. The internship duration is for 12 months.

The study findings shall provide to the Ministry an objective perspective of donors, consultant specialists, and regional forestry policy networks to have foundation for studying and considering the amendment and supplementing of the 2004 Forest Protection and Development Law in the future.

The Report mainly focused on Funds operating in the forest sector, especially the CDFs that were then compared with other 2 Funds introduced for the aquaculture and agriculture sectors regarding Fund establishment, operation and management, loan cycle management, saving regulations and project closing procedures as well as Fund handing over aspects. Upon research indings, lessons learnt on CDF organization, operation and management were drawn up for future use.
